Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
Jesus Christ and His apostles repeatedly warned that deception would not only come from the world, but from within religious spaces and even among those who claim His Name. This page exists to present Scripture alone—without commentary or accusation—so that believers may obey Christ's command to watch, discern, and examine fruit, always measuring teachings, authority, and conduct against the full council of God.
Jesus' Warnings to Believers
A Tree and Its Fruit
Mat 7:15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
Mat 7:16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?
Mat 7:17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Mat 7:20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. I Never Knew You
Mat 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'
Mat 7:23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' Persecution Will Come
Mat 10:16 "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
Mat 10:17 But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues.
Mat 10:18 You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.
Mat 10:19 But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak;
Mat 10:20 for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
Mat 10:21 "Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.
Mat 10:22 And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
Mat 10:23 When they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly, I say to you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
Mat 10:24 "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. Religious Hypocrisy and False Righteousness
Mat 10:25 It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household! False Signs, False Authority, and End-Time Deception
Mat 24:24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
Mar 13:21 "Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'Look, He is there!' do not believe it.
Mar 13:22 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Warnings Against Abandoning Sound Doctrine
2Ti 3:3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
2Ti 3:4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, Apostolic Warning to the Church
Act 20:26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men.Act 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.
Act 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
Act 20:29 For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.
Act 20:30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
Act 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.
Act 20:32 "So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. These warnings were given not to produce fear or suspicion, but to call every believer—especially those who teach or lead—to humility, obedience, and self-examination. Signs, titles, and claimed authority are never the measure of truth; fruit, faithfulness to Christ, and submission to the Word of God are. Discernment must be exercised without pride, accusation, or paranoia, remembering that judgment begins in the house of God and that every soul is ultimately accountable to Jesus Christ alone.
