Demons

Possessions by Demons – Easy to Read Version

Saul

1Sa 16:14  The LORD’S Spirit left Saul. Then the LORD sent an evil spirit to Saul that caused him much trouble.

1Sa 18:10  The next day, an evil spirit from God took control of Saul and he went wild in his house. David played the harp to calm him as he usually did,

1Sa 18:11  but Saul had a spear in his hand. He thought, “I’ll pin David to the wall.” Saul threw the spear twice, but David jumped out of the way both times.

1Sa 19:9  Later, in Saul’s house, David was playing the harp. Saul was there with his spear in his hand. Then an evil spirit from the LORD came on Saul.

1Sa 19:10  Saul threw his spear at David and tried to pin him to the wall. David jumped out of the way, so the spear missed him and stuck in the wall. That night, David ran away.

Two men of the Gergesenes

Mat 8:28  Jesus arrived at the other side of the lake in the country of the Gadarene people. There, two men who had demons inside them came to him. They lived in the burial caves and were so dangerous that no one could use the road by those caves.

Mat 8:29  They came to Jesus and shouted, “What do you want with us, Son of God? Did you come here to punish us before the right time?”

Mat 8:30  Near that place there was a large herd of pigs feeding.

Mat 8:31  The demons begged Jesus, “If you make us leave these men, please send us into that herd of pigs.”

Mat 8:32  Jesus said to them, “Go!” So the demons left the men and went into the pigs. Then the whole herd of pigs ran down the hill into the lake, and all were drowned.

Mat 8:33  The men who had the work of caring for the pigs ran away. They went into town and told the people everything that happened, especially about the men who had the demons.

Mat 8:34  Then the whole town went out to see Jesus. When the people saw him, they begged him to leave their area.

Mar 5:1  Jesus and his followers went across the lake to the area where the Gerasene people lived.

Mar 5:2  When Jesus got out of the boat, a man came to him from the caves where the dead are buried. This man had an evil spirit living inside him.

Mar 5:3  He lived in the burial caves. No one could keep him tied up, even with chains.

Mar 5:4  Many times people had put chains on his hands and feet, but he broke the chains. No one was strong enough to control him.

Mar 5:5  Day and night he stayed around the burial caves and on the hills. He would scream and cut himself with rocks.

Mar 5:6  While Jesus was still far away, the man saw him. He ran to Jesus and bowed down before him.

Mar 5:7  As Jesus was saying, “You evil spirit, come out of this man,” the man shouted loudly, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you in God’s name not to punish me!”

Mar 5:9  Then Jesus asked the man, “What is your name?” The man answered, “My name is Legion, because there are many spirits inside me.”

Mar 5:10  The spirits inside the man begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of that area.

Mar 5:11  A large herd of pigs was eating on a hill near there.

Mar 5:12  The evil spirits begged Jesus, “Send us to the pigs. Let us go into them.”

Mar 5:13  So Jesus allowed them to do this. The evil spirits left the man and went into the pigs. Then the herd of pigs ran down the hill and into the lake. They were all drowned. There were about 2000 pigs in that herd.

Mar 5:14  The men who had the work of caring for the pigs ran away. They ran to the town and to the farms and told everyone what happened. The people went out to see.

Mar 5:15  They came to Jesus, and they saw the man who had the many evil spirits. He was sitting down and was wearing clothes. He was in his right mind again. When they saw this, they were afraid.

Mar 5:16  Those who had seen what Jesus did told the others what happened to the man who had the demons living in him. And they also told about the pigs.

Mar 5:17  Then the people began to beg Jesus to leave their area.

Mar 5:18  Jesus was preparing to leave in the boat. The man who was now free from the demons begged to go with him.

Mar 5:19  But Jesus did not allow the man to go. He said, “Go home to your family and friends. Tell them about all that the Lord did for you. Tell them how the Lord was good to you.”

Mar 5:20  So the man left and told the people in the Ten Towns about the great things Jesus did for him. Everyone was amazed.

Luk 8:26  Jesus and his followers sailed on across the lake. They sailed to the area where the Gerasene people live, across from Galilee.

Luk 8:27  When Jesus got out of the boat, a man from that town came to him. This man had demons inside him. For a long time he had worn no clothes. He did not live in a house but in the caves where the dead are buried.

Luk 8:28  The demon inside the man had often seized him, and he had been put in jail with his hands and feet in chains. But he would always break the chains. The demon inside him would force him to go out to the places where no one lived. Jesus commanded the evil spirit to come out of the man. When the man saw Jesus, he fell down before him, shouting loudly, “What do you want with me, JesusSon of the Most High God? Please, don’t punish me!”

Luk 8:30  Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” The man answered, “Legion.” (He said his name was “Legion” because many demons had gone into him.)

Luk 8:31  The demons begged Jesus not to send them into the bottomless pit.

Luk 8:32  On that hill there was a big herd of pigs eating. The demons begged Jesus to allow them to go into the pigs. So he allowed them to do this.

Luk 8:33  Then the demons came out of the man and went into the pigs. The herd of pigs ran down the hill into the lake, and all were drowned.

Luk 8:34  The men who were caring for the pigs ran away and told the story in the fields and in the town.

Luk 8:35  People went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man sitting there at the feet of Jesus. The man had clothes on and was in his right mind again; the demons were gone. This made the people afraid.

Luk 8:36  The men who saw these things happen told the others all about how Jesus made the man well.

Luk 8:37  All those who lived in the area around Gerasa asked Jesus to go away because they were afraid. So Jesus got into the boat to go back to Galilee.

Luk 8:38  The man he had healed begged to go with him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,

Luk 8:39  “Go back home and tell people what God did for you.” So the man went all over town telling what Jesus had done for him.

The dumb man

Mat 9:32  As these two men were leaving, some people brought another man to Jesus. This man could not talk because he had a demon inside him.

Mat 9:33  Jesus forced the demon out, and the man was able to talk. The people were amazed and said, “We have never seen anything like this in Israel.”

Mat 9:34  But the Pharisees said, “The ruler of demons is the one that gives him power to force demons out.”

The blind and dumb man

Mat 12:22  Then some people brought a man to Jesus. This man was blind and could not talk, because he had a demon inside him. Jesus healed the man, and he could talk and see.

Mat 12:23  All the people were amazed at what Jesus did. They said, “Maybe he is the promised Son of David!”

Mat 12:24  When the Pharisees heard this, they said, “This man uses the power of Satan to force demons out of people. Satan is the ruler of demons.”

Mat 12:25  Jesus knew what the Pharisees were thinking. So he said to them, “Every kingdom that fights against itself will be destroyed. And every city or family that is divided against itself will not survive.

Mat 12:26  So if Satan forces out his own demons, then he is fighting against himself, and his kingdom will not survive.

Mat 12:27  You say that I use the power of Satan to force out demons. If that is true, then what power do your people use when they force out demons? So your own people will prove that you are wrong.

Mat 12:28  But I use the power of God’s Spirit to force out demons, and this shows that God’s kingdom has come to you.

Mat 12:29  Whoever wants to enter a strong man’s house and steal his things must first tie him up. Then they can steal the things from his house.

Mat 12:30  Whoever is not with me is against me. And anyone who does not work with me is working against me.

Mat 12:31  “So I tell you, people can be forgiven for every sinful thing they do and for every bad thing they say against God. But anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

Mat 12:32  You can even speak against the Son of Man and be forgiven. But anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven–not now or in the future.

Luk 11:14  One time Jesus was sending a demon out of a man who could not talk. When the demon came out, the man was able to speak. The crowds were amazed.

Luk 11:15  But some of the people said, “He uses the power of Satan to force demons out of people. Satan is the ruler of demons.”

Luk 11:16  Some others there wanted to test Jesus. They asked him to do a miracle as a sign from God.

Luk 11:17  But he knew what they were thinking. So he said to them, “Every kingdom that fights against itself will be destroyed. And a family that fights against itself will break apart.

Luk 11:18  So if Satan is fighting against himself, how will his kingdom survive? You say that I use the power of Satan to force out demons.

Luk 11:19  But if I use Satan’s power to force out demons, then what power do your people use when they force out demons? So your own people will prove that you are wrong.

Luk 11:20  But I use the power of God to force out demons. This shows that God’s kingdom has now come to you.

Luk 11:21  “When a strong man with many weapons guards his own house, the things in his house are safe.

Luk 11:22  But suppose a stronger man comes and defeats him. The stronger man will take away the weapons that the first man trusted to keep his house safe. Then the stronger man will do what he wants with the other man’s things.

Luk 11:23  “Whoever is not with me is against me. And anyone who does not work with me is working against me.

Luk 11:24  “When an evil spirit comes out of someone, it travels through dry places, looking for a place to rest. But it finds no place to rest. So it says, ‘I will go back to the home I left.’

Luk 11:25  When it comes back, it finds that home all neat and clean.

Luk 11:26  Then the evil spirit goes out and brings back seven other spirits more evil than itself. They all go and live there, and that person has even more trouble than before.”

The daughter of the Syrophenician

Mat 15:22  A Canaanite woman from that area came out and began shouting, “Lord, Son of David, please help me! My daughter has a demon inside her, and she is suffering very much.”

Mat 15:23  But Jesus did not answer her. So the followers came to him and said, “Tell her to go away. She keeps crying out and will not leave us alone.”

Mat 15:24  Jesus answered, “God sent me only to the lost people of Israel.”

Mat 15:25  Then the woman came over to Jesus and bowed before him. She said, “Lord, help me!”

Mat 15:26  He answered her with this saying: “It is not right to take the children’s bread and give it to the dogs.”

Mat 15:27  The woman said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the pieces of food that fall from their master’s table.”

Mat 15:28  Then Jesus answered, “Woman, you have great faith! You will get what you asked for.” And right then the woman’s daughter was healed.

Mar 7:25  A woman heard that he was there. Her little daughter had an evil spirit inside her. So the woman came to Jesus and bowed down near his feet.

Mar 7:26  She was not a Jew. She was born in Phoenicia, an area in Syria. She begged Jesus to force the demon out of her daughter.

Mar 7:27  Jesus told the woman, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and give it to the dogs. First let the children eat all they want.”

Mar 7:28  She answered, “That is true, Lord. But the dogs under the table can eat the pieces of food that the children don’t eat.”

Mar 7:29  Then he told her, “That is a very good answer. You may go. The demon has left your daughter.”

Mar 7:30  The woman went home and found her daughter lying on the bed. The demon was gone.

The lunatic child

Mat 17:14  Jesus and the followers went back to the people. A man came to Jesus and bowed before him.

Mat 17:15  The man said, “Lord, be kind to my son. He suffers so much from the seizures he has. He often falls into the fire or into the water.

Mat 17:16  I brought him to your followers, but they could not heal him.”

Mat 17:17  Jesus answered, “You people today have no faith. Your lives are so wrong! How long must I stay with you? How long must I continue to be patient with you? Bring the boy here.”

Mat 17:18  Jesus gave a strong command to the demon inside the boy. The demon came out of the boy, and the boy was healed.

Mat 17:19  Then the followers came to Jesus alone. They said, “We tried to force the demon out of the boy, but we could not. Why were we not able to make the demon go out?”

Mat 17:20  Jesus answered, “You were not able to make the demon go out, because your faith is too small. Believe me when I tell you, if your faith is only as big as a mustard seed you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. You will be able to do anything.”

Mat 17:21  [“But that kind of spirit comes out only with prayer and fasting.”]

Mar 9:17  A man answered, “Teacher, I brought my son to you. He is controlled by an evil spirit that keeps him from talking.

Mar 9:18  The spirit attacks him and throws him on the ground. He foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes very stiff. I asked your followers to force the evil spirit out, but they could not.”

Mar 9:19  Jesus answered, “You people today don’t believe! How long must I stay with you? How long must I be patient with you? Bring the boy to me!”

Mar 9:20  So the followers brought the boy to Jesus. When the evil spirit saw Jesus, it attacked the boy. The boy fell down and rolled on the ground. He was foaming at the mouth.

Mar 9:21  Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has this been happening to him?” The father answered, “Since he was very young.

Mar 9:22  The spirit often throws him into a fire or into water to kill him. If you can do anything, please have pity on us and help us.”

Mar 9:23  Jesus said to the father, “Why did you say ‘if you can’? All things are possible for the one who believes.”

Mar 9:24  Immediately the father shouted, “I do believe. Help me to believe more!”

Mar 9:25  Jesus saw that all the people were running there to see what was happening. So he spoke to the evil spirit. He said, “You evil spirit that makes this boy deaf and stops him from talking–I command you to come out of him and never enter him again!”

Mar 9:26  The evil spirit screamed. It caused the boy to fall on the ground again, and then it came out. The boy looked as if he was dead. Many people said, “He is dead!”

Mar 9:27  But Jesus took hold of his hand and helped him stand up.

Mar 9:28  Then Jesus went into the house. His followers were alone with him there. They said, “Why weren’t we able to force that evil spirit out?”

Mar 9:29  Jesus answered, “That kind of spirit can be forced out only with prayer.”

Luk 9:37  The next day, Jesus, Peter, John, and James came down from the mountain. A large group of people met Jesus.

Luk 9:38  A man in the group shouted to him, “Teacher, please come and look at my son. He is the only child I have.

Luk 9:39  An evil spirit comes into him, and then he shouts. He loses control of himself and foams at the mouth. The evil spirit continues to hurt him and almost never leaves him.

Luk 9:40  I begged your followers to make the evil spirit leave my son, but they could not do it.”

Luk 9:41  Jesus answered, “You people today have no faith. Your lives are all wrong. How long must I be with you and be patient with you?” Then Jesus said to the man, “Bring your son here.”

Luk 9:42  While the boy was coming, the demon threw the boy to the ground. The boy lost control of himself. But Jesus gave a strong command to the evil spirit. Then the boy was healed, and Jesus gave him back to his father.

Mary Magdalene

Mar 16:9  Jesus rose from death early on the first day of the week. He appeared first to Mary Magdalene. One time in the past Jesus had forced seven demons out of Mary.

Luk 8:2  There were also some women with him. Jesus had healed these women of sicknesses and evil spirits. One of them was Mary, who was called Magdalene. Seven demons had come out of her.

Statements by Jesus about casting out demons

Luk 13:31  Just then some Pharisees came to Jesus and said, “Go away from here and hide. Herod wants to kill you!”

Luk 13:32  Jesus said to them, “Go tell that fox, ‘Today and tomorrow I am forcing demons out of people and finishing my work of healing. Then, the next day, the work will be finished.’

Luk 13:33  After that I must go, because all prophets should die in Jerusalem.

Mat 7:21  “Not everyone who calls me Lord will enter God’s kingdom. The only people who will enter are those who do what my Father in heaven wants.

Mat 7:22  On that last Day many will call me Lord. They will say, ‘Lord, Lord, by the power of your name we spoke for God. And by your name we forced out demons and did many miracles.’

Mat 7:23  Then I will tell those people clearly, ‘Get away from me, you people who do wrong. I never knew you.’

Cast out by Jesus

Mat 4:24  The news about Jesus spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all those who were sick. They were suffering from different kinds of diseases and pain. Some had demons inside them, some suffered from seizures, and some were paralyzed. Jesus healed them all.

Mat 8:16  That evening people brought to Jesus many people who had demons inside them. He spoke and the demons left the people. He healed all those who were sick

Mar 1:23  While Jesus was in the synagogue, a man was there who had an evil spirit inside him. The man shouted,

Mar 1:24  “Jesus of Nazareth! What do you want with us? Did you come to destroy us? I know who you are–God’s Holy One!”

Mar 1:25  Jesus, his voice full of warning, said, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”

Mar 1:26  The evil spirit made the man shake. Then the spirit made a loud noise and came out of him.

Mar 1:27  The people were amazed. They asked each other, “What is happening here? This man is teaching something new, and he teaches with authority! He even commands evil spirits, and they obey him.”

Mar 1:28  So the news about Jesus spread quickly everywhere in the area of Galilee.

Mar 1:29  Jesus and the followers left the synagogue. They all went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.

Mar 1:30  Simon’s mother-in-law was very sick. She was in bed and had a fever. The people there told Jesus about her.

Mar 1:31  So he went to her bed. Jesus held her hand and helped her stand up. The fever left her, and she was healed. Then she began serving them.

Mar 1:32  That night, after the sun went down, the people brought to Jesus many who were sick. They also brought those who had demons inside them.

Mar 1:33  Everyone in the town gathered at the door of that house.

Mar 1:34  Jesus healed many of those who had different kinds of sicknesses. He also forced many demons out of people. But he would not allow the demons to speak, because they knew who he was.

Mar 1:38  Jesus answered, “We should go to another place. We can go to other towns around here, and I can tell God’s message to those people too. That is why I came.”

Mar 1:39  So Jesus traveled everywhere in Galilee. He spoke in the synagogues, and he forced demons out of people.

Mar 3:22  And the teachers of the law from Jerusalem said, “Satan is living inside him! He uses power from the ruler of demons to force demons out of people.”

Luk 4:33  In the synagogue there was a man who had an evil spirit from the devil inside him. The man shouted loudly,

Luk 4:34  “Jesus of Nazareth! What do you want with us? Did you come here to destroy us? I know who you are–God’s Holy One!”

Luk 4:35  But Jesus warned the evil spirit to stop. He said, “Be quiet! Come out of the man!” The evil spirit threw the man down on the ground in front of everyone. Then the evil spirit left the man and did not hurt him.

Luk 4:36  The people were amazed. They said to each other, “What does this mean? With authority and power he commands evil spirits and they come out.”

Luk 4:40  When the sun went down, the people brought their sick friends to Jesus. They had many different kinds of sicknesses. Jesus laid his hands on each sick person and healed them all.

Luk 4:41  Demons came out of many people. The demons shouted, “You are the Son of God.” But Jesus gave a strong command for the demons not to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah.

Luk 6:17  Jesus and the apostles came down from the mountain. Jesus stood on a flat place. A large crowd of his followers was there. Also, there were many people from all around Judea, Jerusalem, and the seacoast cities of Tyre and Sidon.

Luk 6:18  They all came to hear Jesus teach and to be healed of their sicknesses. He healed the people who were troubled by evil spirits.

Luk 6:19  Everyone was trying to touch him, because power was coming out from him. Jesus healed them all.

Power over, given the disciples

Mat 10:1  Jesus called his twelve followers together. He gave them power over evil spirits and power to heal every kind of disease and sickness.

Luk 9:1  Jesus called his twelve apostles together. He gave them power to heal sicknesses and power to force demons out of people.

Mat 10:8  Heal the sick. Bring the dead back to life. Heal the people who have leprosy. And force demons out of people. I give you these powers freely, so help others freely.

Mar 3:14  And he chose twelve men and called them apostles. He wanted these twelve men to be with him, and he wanted to send them to other places to tell people God’s message.

Mar 3:15  He also wanted them to have the power to force demons out of people.

Mar 6:7  Jesus called his twelve apostles together. He sent them out in groups of two and gave them power over evil spirits.

Mar 6:13  They forced many demons out of people and put olive oil on many who were sick and healed them.

Mar 16:17  And the people who believe will be able to do these things as proof: They will use my name to force demons out of people. They will speak in languages they never learned.

Cast out:

By the disciples

Mar 9:38  Then John said, “Teacher, we saw a man using your name to force demons out of someone. He is not one of us. So we told him to stop, because he does not belong to our group.”

Mar 9:39  Jesus said, “Don’t stop him. Whoever uses my name to do powerful things will not soon say bad things about me.

Mar 9:40  Whoever is not against us is with us

Luk 9:49  John answered, “Master, we saw someone using your name to force demons out of people. We told him to stop because he does not belong to our group.”

Luk 9:50  Jesus said to him, “Don’t stop him. Whoever is not against you is for you.”

Luk 10:17  When the 72 followers came back from their trip, they were very happy. They said, “Lord, even the demons obeyed us when we used your name!”

Luk 10:18  Jesus said to them, “I saw Satan falling like lightning from the sky.

Luk 10:19  He is the enemy, but know that I have given you more power than he has. I have given you power to crush his snakes and scorpions under your feet. Nothing will hurt you.

Luk 10:20  Yes, even the spirits obey you. And you can be happy, not because you have this power, but because your names are written in heaven.”

Luk 10:21  Then the Holy Spirit made Jesus feel very happy. Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. I am thankful that you have hidden these things from those who are so wise and so smart. But you have shown them to people who are like little children. Yes, Father, you did this because it’s what you really wanted to do.

By Peter

Act 5:16  People came from all the towns around Jerusalem. They brought those who were sick or troubled by evil spirits. All of them were healed.

By Paul

Act 16:16  One day we were going to the place for prayer, and a servant girl met us. She had a spirit in her that gave her the power to tell what would happen in the future. By doing this she earned a lot of money for the men who owned her.

Act 16:17  She started following Paul and the rest of us around. She kept shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God! They are telling you how you can be saved!”

Act 16:18  She continued doing this for many days. This bothered Paul, so he turned and said to the spirit, “By the power of Jesus Christ, I command you to come out of her!” Immediately, the spirit came out.

Act 16:19  When the men who owned the servant girl saw this, they realized that they could no longer use her to make money. So they grabbed Paul and Silas and dragged them to the public square to meet with the authorities.

Act 19:12  Some people carried away handkerchiefs and clothes that Paul had used and put them on those who were sick. The sick people were healed, and evil spirits left them.

Act 19:13  Some Jews also were traveling around forcing evil spirits out of people. The seven sons of Sceva, one of the leading priests, were doing this. These Jews tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus to make the evil spirits go out of people. They all said, “By the same Jesus that Paul talks about, I order you to come out!”

Act 19:15  But one time an evil spirit said to these Jews, “I know Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?”

Act 19:16  Then the man who had the evil spirit inside him jumped on these Jews. He was much stronger than all of them. He beat them up and tore their clothes off. They all ran away from that house.

By Philip

Act 8:5  Philip went to the city of Samaria and told people about the Messiah.

Act 8:6  The people there heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he was doing. They all listened carefully to what he said.

Act 8:7  Many of these people had evil spirits inside them, but Philip made the evil spirits leave them. The spirits made a lot of noise as they came out. There were also many weak and crippled people there. Philip made these people well too.

Act 8:8  What a happy day this was for that city!

Disciples could not expel

Mar 9:18  The spirit attacks him and throws him on the ground. He foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes very stiff. I asked your followers to force the evil spirit out, but they could not.”

Mar 9:28  Then Jesus went into the house. His followers were alone with him there. They said, “Why weren’t we able to force that evil spirit out?”

Mar 9:29  Jesus answered, “That kind of spirit can be forced out only with prayer.”

Sceva’s sons exorcise

Parable of the man repossessed

Mat 12:43  “When an evil spirit comes out of a person, it travels through dry places looking for a place to rest, but it finds none.

Mat 12:44  So it says, ‘I will go back to the home I left.’ When it comes back, it finds that home still empty. It is all neat and clean.

Mat 12:45  Then the evil spirit goes out and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself. They all go and live there, and that person has even more trouble than before. It is the same way with the evil people who live today.”

Jesus falsely accused of being possessed of

Mar 3:22  And the teachers of the law from Jerusalem said, “Satan is living inside him! He uses power from the ruler of demons to force demons out of people.”

Mar 3:23  So Jesus called them together and talked to them using some stories. He said, “Satan will not force his own demons out of people.

Mar 3:24  A kingdom that fights against itself will not survive.

Mar 3:25  And a family that is divided will not survive.

Mar 3:26  If Satan is against himself and is fighting against his own people, he will not survive. That would be the end of Satan.

Mar 3:27  “Whoever wants to enter a strong man’s house and steal his things must first tie him up. Then they can steal the things from his house.

Mar 3:28  “I want you to know that people can be forgiven for all the sinful things they do. They can even be forgiven for the bad things they say against God.

Mar 3:29  But anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. They will always be guilty of that sin.”

Mar 3:30  Jesus said this because the teachers of the law had accused him of having an evil spirit inside him.

Joh 7:19  Moses gave you the law, right? But you don’t obey that law. If you do, then why are you trying to kill me?”

Joh 7:20  The people answered, “A demon is making you crazy! We are not trying to kill you.”

Joh 7:21  Jesus said to them, “I did one miracle on a Sabbath day, and you were all surprised.

Joh 8:47  Whoever belongs to God accepts what he says. But you don’t accept what God says, because you don’t belong to God.”

Joh 8:48  The Jews there answered, “We say you are a Samaritan. We say a demon is making you crazy! Are we not right when we say this?”

Joh 8:49  Jesus answered, “I have no demon in me. I give honor to my Father, but you give no honor to me.

Joh 10:18  No one takes my life away from me. I give my own life freely. I have the right to give my life, and I have the right to get it back again. This is what the Father told me.”

Joh 10:19  Again the Jews were divided over what Jesus was saying.

Joh 10:20  Many of them said, “A demon has come into him and made him crazy. Why listen to him?”

Joh 10:21  But others said, “These aren’t the words of someone controlled by a demon. A demon cannot heal the eyes of a blind man.”

Testify to the divinity of Jesus

Mat 8:29  They came to Jesus and shouted, “What do you want with us, Son of God? Did you come here to punish us before the right time?”

Mar 1:23  While Jesus was in the synagogue, a man was there who had an evil spirit inside him. The man shouted,

Mar 1:24  “Jesus of Nazareth! What do you want with us? Did you come to destroy us? I know who you are–God’s Holy One!”

Mar 3:11  Some people had evil spirits inside them. When the evil spirits saw Jesus, they bowed before him and shouted, “You are the Son of God!”

Mar 3:12  But Jesus gave the spirits a strong warning not to tell anyone who he was.

Mar 5:7  As Jesus was saying, “You evil spirit, come out of this man,” the man shouted loudly, “What do you want with me, JesusSon of the Most High God? I beg you in God’s name not to punish me!”

Luk 8:28  The demon inside the man had often seized him, and he had been put in jail with his hands and feet in chains. But he would always break the chains. The demon inside him would force him to go out to the places where no one lived. Jesus commanded the evil spirit to come out of the man. When the man saw Jesus, he fell down before him, shouting loudly, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Please, don’t punish me!”

Act 19:15  But one time an evil spirit said to these Jews, “I know Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?”

Adversaries of men

Mat 12:45  Then the evil spirit goes out and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself. They all go and live there, and that person has even more trouble than before. It is the same way with the evil people who live today.”

Sent to foment trouble between Abimelech and the Shechemites

Jdg 9:23  Abimelech had killed Jerub Baal’s (Gideon) 70 sons–and they were his own brothers. The leaders of Shechem had supported him in doing this evil thing. So God caused trouble between Abimelech and the leaders of Shechem. And they began planning ways to hurt Abimelech.

Messages given false prophets by

1Ki 22:19  But Micaiah said, “Listen to this message from the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne. All of heaven’s army was standing around him, some on his left side and some on his right side.

1Ki 22:20  The LORD said, ‘Which of you will go fool Ahab into attacking the Arameans at Ramoth Gilead so that he will be killed?’ The angels discussed many different plans.

1Ki 22:21  Then a spirit went and stood before the LORD and said, ‘I will fool him!’ The LORD asked, ‘How will you do it?’

1Ki 22:22  The spirit answered, I will go to Ahab’s prophets and cause them to tell lies.’ So the Lord said, ‘Yes, that will fool Ahab. Go out and do that.'”

1Ki 22:23  “So that is what has happened here. The LORD made your prophets lie to you. The LORD himself decided to bring this disaster to you.”

1Ki 22:24  Then the prophet Zedekiah went to Micaiah and hit him on the face. Zedekiah said, “How is it that the Spirit of the LORD left me to speak through you?”

1Ki 22:25  Micaiah answered, “Look, what I said will happen! And you will see it one day when you are in a secret room somewhere hiding.”

Believe and tremble

Jas 2:19  You believe there is one God. That’s good, but even the demons believe that! And they shake with fear.

To be judged at the general judgment

Mat 8:29  They came to Jesus and shouted, “What do you want with us, Son of God? Did you come here to punish us before the right time?”

2Pe 2:4  When angels sinned, God did not let them go free without punishment. He sent them to hell. He put those angels in caves of darkness, where they are being held until the time when God will judge them.

Jud 1:6  And remember the angels who lost their authority to rule. They left their proper home. So the Lord has kept them in darkness, bound with everlasting chains, to be judged on the great day.

Punishment of

Mat 8:29  They came to Jesus and shouted, “What do you want with us, Son of God? Did you come here to punish us before the right time?”

Mat 25:41  “Then the king will say to the evil people on his left, ‘Get away from me. God has already decided that you will be punished. Go into the fire that burns forever–the fire that was prepared for the devil and his angels.

Rev 12:7  Then there was a war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back,

Rev 12:8  but they were not strong enough. The dragon and its angels lost their place in heaven.

Rev 12:9  It was thrown down out of heaven. (This giant dragon is that old snake, the one called the devil or Satan, who leads the whole world into the wrong way.) The dragon and its angels were thrown to the earth.

The Dragon & Revelations

Rev 16:12  The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates. The water in the river was dried up. This prepared the way for the rulers from the east to come.

Rev 16:13  Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs. They came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

Rev 16:14  These evil spirits are the spirits of demons. They have power to do miracles. They go out to the rulers of the whole world to gather them for battle on the great day of God All-Powerful.

Rev 18:2  The angel shouted with a powerful voice, “She is destroyed! The great city of Babylon is destroyed! She has become a home for demons. That city has become a place for every unclean spirit to live. She is a city filled with all kinds of unclean birds. She is a place where every unclean and hated animal lives.
